Homepage of Nathan Ross I am currently at the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Melbourne. Before coming to Melbourne, I was a postdoc in the Statistics Department at UC Berkeley and before that I received my Ph.D. in mathematics from USC under the direction of Jason Fulman. I'm interested in the mathematical behavior of random discrete structures of the type that form the basis of models used in modern statistical applications, such as random networks, urn models, and gene-genealogies. Much of my work is concerned with limiting and approximating results as the structure becomes large, and for this purpose I frequently use and develop a technique called Stein's method.
